Standard II: Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experience and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards.
- Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity
- Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress
- Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources
- Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards, and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching
Standard II asks that the teacher be engaged in designing, developing and evaluating the students' learning experiences through today's tools to maximize learning. The technology survey allows the teacher to assess where the student is prior to creating content for them. This allows the teacher to assess what will and won't work well for his/her students moving forward. The course website allows for students to receive the content that is created and it provides them with a checkpoint and marker to show them what they are going to be working on and how they're going to do it. The digital quizzes and forums also allow for tracking and assessing where the students are on any given day. Having students create via google slides allows them the chance to showcase what they've learned on a contemporary platform.
My learning goal for this standard is to continue to make authentic instructional material that I am diligent assessing. Last year I did a lot of technology, and not a lot of assessment. I want to make sure that my assessment is accurate and challenging enough to feel like I'm sure my students can move on and be successful in the next grade and beyond.
