Standard 1 - Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
Iste Standard 1 calls for teachers to use their prior knowledge to facilitate experiences that move the students' learning in a positive way with both face-to-face and virtual environments. It also asked that this be done creatively with the real-world in mind. In order to encourage collaboration between my students and myself, the forum project comes to mind. The forum project allows for communication between myself and my students in regards to the topics that I have set up. The students themselves are collaborating when they respond to comments in there as well as comments on the blog that I created. Through the Podcast, Movie story, and ThingLink I'm able to provide my students with innovative instruction and with ThingLink specifically, my students are able to create images that are engaging and indicate their ability to construct knowledge from prior knowledge. Through the Movie story I'm able to assess their learning and through tools like iMovie they are able to create videos like one of our main video sources: Youtube, that show them showing what they've learned.

- Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
- Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments

My learning goals from this standard are to get my students more involved in creating digital student content. I did venture into this field, but I usually reverted back to posters, and reading fair type boards for my projects down the line. I also what to get my projects more streamlined for our learning platform, schoology, where they remain engaged and interested in the lesson. I also want to look at ways that people are communicating with their employees, because I want to communicate with my students in a way that their future employers might communicate with them.
