I use Microsoft Office mostly as a starting point for my worksheets and assignments. Most of them open there and it allows me to make changes that I otherwise would probably find difficult to make. I used Powerpoint growing up and in college to create my presentations and during my experience in graduate school I began to venture even further out of my comfort zone.
These three projects asked that I utilize Google Docs, Forms, and Slides, which are a little different but familiar all at the same time. Before I became a teacher I'd only had experience with Google Docs and even then, I hadn't truly explored the depths of all the app has to offer. So in order to ask my students to utilize these I had to be sure that I was competent in them as well.
The textbook says that training can be a problem that teachers run into when using new technology and crossing this hurdle was a bit difficult. Despite being a digital immigrant and seeing a lot of these technologies be birthed, I still remember nursing some resistance to actually learning and using them. I had to overcome wanting to teach the old way in order to teach the best way. I think that's an important thing that a lot of us have to learn.
Below are links to the three presentations that I prepared for my students! Feel free to check them out and please, please, PLEASE critique me! Criticism is one of the only ways to get better. Also, be sure to make sure that you do the survey as well!
